Soil and Water Bioremediation: In-Situ Treatment of Polluted Soil
and Water with Emphasis on the Use of Genetically Engineered Microorganisms
IUPAC has approved a project to prepare a critical review of the state-of-the-art
of the removal of hazardous chemical contaminants from liquid, solid,
and gas phases using biological processes, including bioremediation
of leachates, toxic industrial wastewater, soils, and sediments. Emphasis
will be placed on novel application of genetically engineered microorganisms
for bioremediation. Comments from the chemistry and environmental community
are welcome and should be addressed to the project coordinator, Dr.
Raphi Mandelbaum, LDD Technologies, POB 3506, Petach Tiqva, Israel 49130,
