21–25 August 2005, Portoroz, Slovenia
The IUPAC-Sponsored 29th International Conference on Solution Chemistry (ICSC) will be held from 21-25 August 2005 in Portoroz, Slovenia. This series of conferences has a long tradition and represents a central event for the international scientific community involved in various aspects of solution chemistry. The conference takes place every second year in different countries and on different continents. The previous three conferences in this series were held in Fukuoka, Japan; Vaals, Netherlands; and Debrecen, Hungary.
While the conference theme is the chemistry of solutions, a wider perspective is being taken. Other areas to be covered include supramolecular assemblies and nanostructures; interfaces; thermodynamics, kinetics, and structure; polymers, colloids, and membranes; biophysical and pharmaceutical problems; analytical and environmental aspects; aquatic chemistry; and solvents and solutions under extreme conditions. This list is by no means complete; contributions covering any aspect of solution properties and applications are welcome. The scientific program will consist of plenary lectures, invited lectures, and both oral and poster presentations. Several distinguished scientists from all over the world have already agreed to present their work.
The conference will take place at the Bernardin Resort, located on the Slovenian Adriatic coast. With its rich Mediterranean vegetation and favorable climate, the resort provides a stimulating working atmosphere. The end of August on the Slovenian coast is warm, with air temperatures between 18°C and 29°C. Portoroz is accessible by car, train or boat. The closest international airports are Ljubljana, Slovenia, and Trieste and Venice, Italy. Rich social programs including the welcome party, conference tour, dinner, and accompanying person’s program will be arranged.
